At the park

Here in Arizona, we have to make the most of the beautiful winter weather.  It gets dark early, but we try to make time to get outside sometimes to play.  Joel loves to get outside - he always behaves very well when we take trips.
Last Sunday was a beautiful day to go to the park, so we took Joel to have some fun at the swing and slide.  Dad was wearing a coat, but it wasn't really cold - he just wasn't feeling well (he was "resfriado").

Six months and decorating

I recently decided that something that I would like to learn is cake decorating, and decide that learning how to decorate cakes will be a good investment of time. I didn't know anything of what was necessary to start with, I'm just finding out, the good thing is that in the family there are a few talented relatives that can help me to get some direction and inspiration.
This is my first decorating cake (very simple in the design) but I feel good about it, and dedicated it to my little sunshine Joel, who just turned six months last week, it's incredible how our little boy is growing and developing his motor skills and accomplishing some milestones for his age, we are so happy to wake up and see his beautiful smile, and to have him surprise us doing something new.

Happy six months little angel!!
I forgot a candle, it looks like he's is ready to blow it out!

Here are my first attempt of cupcakes decorated, we'll see how well I can do in comparison to these first ones!

"Solids"

Joel exponentially expanded his dietary variety by starting solids a couple weeks ago.  So far his favorite foods are carrots, pears, apple, zucchini, banana and mango.  He doesn't like Gerber brand, maybe because it's kind of watery, so we make him home-made babyfoods.

Night life

We were invited to a sports bar for dinner Friday night with people from work.  We were not sure how Joel would handle the environment, but he was well-behaved all the way until we left at around 10PM!  How fun!  He didn't get to eat any pizza or chickenwings, but he got to meet a lot of new friends.

The best part of the day

Joel loves to play!  Joel is starting to play with his toys on his own a little more.  He still lacks some fine motor skills, but he sits up and can pick things up, move them around, put them in his mouth, and enjoy his playtime!  Thanks to all our family and friends who gave us all these great toys!

With a little help, he can read picture books as well.

He can pretend to make snow angels on the couch or just relax for a few minutes.  If we are lucky he takes a little nap, giving mommy a few minutes to rest.
