Bountiful basket

Last sunday, some friends from church invited us for dinner, everything was pretty good and we enjoyed the dinner and the great company they are. As we were talking they mentioned something about "Bountiful baskets", and I thought to myself that for sure that was an activity from Relief Society that I didn't get the chance to participate or to hear about because I'm always at the nursery and I don't get the announcements, so I asked them what it was all that about and they said that it's a basket with fruit and vegetables that you have to order online for $ 15.00 (After that explanation I didn't feel left out from RS).
I was really curious and looked on the internet and Tom and I decided to try one and get it, so here it is - our first basket we got today. So this is how it works, you place the order between Monday and Tuesday and the following Saturday there will be a basket of vegetables and one with fruits waiting for you at one assigned place for pick ups. I know every week they give you different fruits and vegetables, we don't get the chance to choose them, so each time you get it you get a surprise of what are you going to cook the following days.
This is what we got today :
Vegetables : Celery, Swiss chard, broccoli, tomatoes, cilantro, cauliflower head and asparagus.
Fruits : Cantaloupe, bananas, apples, mangoes, tangerines.

Teething

Sorry, we are a little behind with the posts and I hope I can express myself so you can enjoy our little stories.
Officially Joel's bottom teeth came on March 6th, that was a day of celebration after he has been drooling so much saliva around him since he was 3 months old.  It's still everywhere but at least we know the teeth that we were waiting for so long, are here and are very sharp.

Car seat pictures for comparison

Joel at 7 months.
This was Joel at less than 2 months.  He's really filled up that carseat in the last few months!

Peek-A-Boo

Since Joel likes to play and have fun with anything he has at hand, we played Peek-A-Boo after he finished lunch, he loved it!  First he was turning around with the cloth on his face but after we helped him, he figured it out and he got very good at taking the cloth off his face.  We can say that he's a pro now.

I did it! yay!

A day at the park

Every Friday some ladies from Church meet at the park to have a play date, obviously they have kids older than little Joel but we went anyway because he likes to get out of the apartment and see others playing around. He did pretty well, he entertained himself with his toys and was happy enjoying the beautiful weather and fresh air around him, until he had a new discovery.

It happen that he moved away the blanket where he was sitting on and touched the grass and then the dirt there, he enjoyed grabbing the grass and having some fun playing with it, even though I didn't want him to get dirty with dirt I guess it's part of his growing up and being in touch with mother nature.

Very persistent in whatever he was looking for

Standing

Joel loves to hang out on the steps outside our apartment.  On March 10th, we were going to take a picture of him sitting on the steps and he just grabbed the rail and stood up!  We were shocked!  Now that's his favorite thing to do on the steps - grab the bars and stand up.

Soccer player

Before it gets too small on him, I wanted to take some pictures with his Mexican soccer jersey  so here it is!  Our top model ready to cheer for the next World Cup, now we just have to get one from the US team, and hopefully one outfit from the Cougars (BYU)

Walker

Since Joel was doing great with his jumper, we thought it was time for him to start with something new and different. We bought a 'walker' a month and a half ago and when he started it, he thought it was similar to his jumper so he tried to jump a  few times at the beginning, now we can say he loves it, and knows what's the purpose of it, he's doing pretty well everyday, so he does some exercise with the jumper and walker during the day.

And because the apartment is small and we don't have that much space for him to walk, we upgrade the area having a field trip everyday so he can walk outside the apartment on the sidewalk and he looks at the cars, people and everything around him. He enjoys feeling the wind on his face.

Found something interesting , a bush!

A little tired of that much exercise
Ready to go home

New discovery

Since our little angel discovered that he has a tongue he was showing it all the time every where he was :  at home, at the store, at Church, everybody who wanted to say Hi to him, the first thing they saw before a smile was a little tongue, now he doesn't do it that much as he used to but it's fun to remember those first days when he kept it out all day long.

Phoenix trip

Since Tom had to go to Phoenix to take a test, we planned a little family trip to make him some company and to visit some friends there. We drove on Thursday afternoon and had dinner with Brad and Rosy who we stayed with, on Friday Tom had to go to school most of the day, so we went to PPP to have lunch and see other friends.
Here is a video of how Joel was enjoying the trip, well I think he just wanted to laugh so bad, and because it's really hard for me to get it without him looking at the camera and stopping, finally I caught him! Yay! Mommy won!

Little Joel's first ride in the carousel, he really liked it.
Getting a ride in the little car.

Grapes

Since Joel started with his solid foods, which he enjoys a lot, I can say he's a very good eater. Now he's tried grapes, and he loves them, if we take his thing away from him he screams all over until he gets it back and finishes eating what he wants. Hopefully he eats this well when he is older!

Illness

I'm thankful that Tom finally finished his urgent care rotation (even though he liked the system and how they are organized) he saw lots of sick kids and people, and even though we tried to be careful about him and Joel for not getting anything, both of them got sick with a bad virus, plus my mom joined them with something else. So we have sick camp at home. We had to take Dad and baby to that same urgent care to be treated, that office has walk-ins so it was kind of easier (because to get an appointment with a doctor will take longer). Now they are doing better, at least Joel can sleep, it was a nightmare to have him sick. Last Sunday Tom and I were assigned to talk during Sacrament meeting, but because baby and grandma were sick I couldn't make it, the only one who went to Sacrament meeting was Dad. We are grateful that health is coming back to this home.
